Jan Manek´s update
IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for
(1567) Alikoski / HIP 26351 on August 29/30, 2002
visible from N Italy, E Austria, SE Germamy, Czechia, Poland,
coast of Baltic republics and Finland
Summary
In the night of August 29/30, 2002 a brigh 8.2 mag star HIP 26351 = SAO 77314 will be occulted by a 71 km
asteroid (1567) Alikoski. This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid and Hipparcos
star position.
Updated path runs over N Italy ~23:54.7 UT, E Austria ~23:54.8 UT, SE Germamy few seconds later, Czechia
~23:54.9 UT, Poland ~23:55.1 UT, coast of Baltic republics ariound 23:55:4 UT and Finland around 23:56 UT.
Keep in mind the probable uncertainty ....
Please check the path chart for details.
Clear sky and good luck !!!

* remarks:
Target star is in north Taurus, about 2.4 degrees southeast of 1.7 mag star beta Tauri = SAO 77168.
Purple stars in identification chart are so called ´non-star´ objects in GSC; in dense fields
the ´non-stars´ are often real stars or blends of close pairs. Be careful about this.
Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE7):
* occulted star is in center - labeled with cross
* field is 5.0x5.0 degrees
* limiting magnitude is 11.0
* labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers
* remarks: Second chart is a RealSky image showing the double star in detail.
