What is important to keep in mind is that Biesecker et al. (2002) found that
the Kreutz comet fragments seem to plateau in brightness at around 0.06 AU.
This holds even for the brightest comets in their study (1996 Y1) and seems
pretty global (notwithstanding some details). Therefore don't get too excited
about the trend…
