Ladies and Gentlemen,
Rob McNaught has suggested that a
webpage be established to co-ordinate information about the observation of
the 2001 Leonid Meteor shower from Australia.  I now have the webpage ready.
The address is http://www.uq.net.au/~zzpeande  (go to the menu item ´Leonds
Australia 2001´.)

As you will see when I set up this page I added a few astronomical articles
and images.
The purpose in my communicating is to advise you of  this webpage as a site
which contains relevant information on observing the Leonids from Australia.
When you access this page, you will note that there are areas which are
still being developed, but I feel that there is sufficient information
available to now advise people about it. If you intend to travel to observe
the Leonids next year, I suggest that you check this site out from time to
time as it is updated and more material is added.

I would appreciate feedback and constructive criticism. I am anxious to add
contributions from various contributors (with acknowledgment, of course.)

The page started with emphasis on observing from the northern part of the
Northern Territory. Then after examining the weather data, it appeared that
the Tennant Creek area might have better prospects. Now we are looking
further into North and North-West Queensland. In particular refer to the
´Weather´ and ´Observing Sites´ sections.

A question has been raised about the possibility of having a conference
immediately before the shower at suitable site, whereat we could deal with
observing techniques and many other matters related to the Leonids. We could
only do this if we were generally observing from the same area, and this can
probably be addressed later.  I just want to flag the concept at this time
so you might consider it.

After I established my page, my wife Evon started a webpage for her travel
articles. http://www.uq.net.au/~zzpeande/travel  You may be interested.....

Thank you for your time.

Peter Anderson.
