      This is a heads-up about a recent supernova discovery in
Messier 100.  Spectroscopic observations reported today (Feb 8 UT)
indicate the object is a type Ia event one to two weeks _before_
maximum.  It is presently something like mag 15, but ought to
brighten considerably in the next two weeks if this interpretation
is correct.  The position is reported as:  12 22 53.9 +15 48 32 (J2000),
which is about 45" southwest of the galaxy center.  The designation
is SN 2006X  (yes, already two dozen supernovae reported this year).
